Bengals cornerback Alexander arrested on battery charge while searching for father

NAPLES, Fla. – Cincinnati Bengal Mackensie Alexander has been arrested on a battery charge after he confronted the man who reportedly left his father, who is still missing.

Alexander had left training camp earlier this week to assist in the search for his missing father in Florida, ESPN confirmed, before he was arrested Wednesday. He was booked on a battery charge after he confronted the man who left his father according to Collier County jail records obtained by WPTV.

It’s not clear if he remains in jail.

According to a news release issued by the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office, his father, Jean Alexandre traveled about 85 miles from his home to Okeechobee, Florida, to pick palmetto berries with another man, who left Alexandre behind.

The player’s father was last seen wearing a white shirt, black jeans with a stripe on the sides and blue Nike shoes with a white line on the sole, the network reported.

Florida authorities are still searching for Alexandre.
