Alex Trebek donates $500K to build shelter for older homeless people
LOS ANGELES – “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek and his wife, Jean, donated $500,000 Wednesday to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, a Los Angeles homeless shelter.
“(Alex and Jean) believe that homeless people are just ordinary people who have had bad circumstances happen to them, and deserve a helping hand, not judgment,” the couple said in a statement.
Ken Craft, the nonprofit’s founder, said the money will go to support the construction of a shelter in the San Fernando Valley called Hope Central, which will house older homeless residents, “Good Morning America” reported.

This is not the first time the couple had donated to this charity.
Earlier this year, they gave $100,000 to help in the construction of a north Hollywood shelter, CNN reported.
Trebek was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer last year. He has vowed to keep hosting the long-running game show for as long as he is physically able.
