1. Audubon's Birds of America

The exhibit “examines examines the artistry and legacy of one of the world’s rarest, most coveted, and biggest books. Published as a series between 1827 and 1838, Birds of America by John James Audubon was a landmark work that achieved international renown due to the epic scale of the project and the book’s spectacular, life-sized ornithological illustrations.”

2. Body Worlds 101

7. Tamara de Lempicka

Location: Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

“Capturing the glamour and vitality of 1920s postwar Paris and the cosmopolitan sheen of Hollywood celebrity, Tamara de Lempicka (1894–1980) infused her paintings with a brilliant sense of fashion, design, and the theatrical. The first American museum retrospective of her work, Tamara de Lempicka explores the artist’s distinctive style and unconventional life as she rose to the pinnacle of café society. The exhibition charts Lempicka’s complicated trajectory against the backdrop of the era. While she reveled in her avant-garde sensibilities and openly conducted affairs with both men and women, she simultaneously concealed her Jewish ancestry as she evaded persecution in her native Poland, escaped Russia following the Soviet revolution, and ultimately fled Europe in 1939.”

8. The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks

For around 50 minutes, “actor Tom Hanks narrates an epic experience that offers a unique new perspective on humankind’s past and future voyages to the moon in The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks, an immersive experience from Lightroom. Space Center Houston’s newly renovated Space Center Theater enhances the viewing experience, recreating the original production.”

9. Artist Round 58: Free Someone

“Free Someone celebrates Houston artists who have overcome adversity to become renowned for their artwork in public places, using the city’s landscape as their canvas. Graffiti is typically painted without permission, yet BE SOMEONE, prominently displayed over I-45, has been embraced by the public, questioning the relationship between public art without permission and public art by commission.”
