Lindsey Buckingham’s Comments Spark Hope for Fleetwood Mac Reunion

Lindsey Buckingham made some recent comments, most notably sharing insight into his relationship with Stevie Nicks, that have sparked hope for a Fleetwood Mac reunion.

While attending Variety‘s Power of Young Hollywood event on Aug. 5, E! News asked the former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and vocalist if there were any plans tied to the 50th anniversary of Rumours in 2027.

“Fleetwood Mac has been working on a documentary,” Buckingham said in the interview. “So we are celebrating that and I think the process of making that has been a very circular healing process for all of us.”

He added that the documentary should be released in early 2027.

Buckingham & Nicks are ‘Talking All the Time Now’

Buckingham was fired from Fleetwood Mac in 2018, related to tensions between him and Nicks. Despite the decades of tensions and bad blood between the pair, Buckingham states he and Nicks talk frequently.

“We had left things… maybe as far as I was concerned, not in a very good place for all the wrong reasons,” Buckingham said. “No one was happy about it, and all of that has been healed and worked out. [Nicks] and I are talking all the time now.”

Buckingham added that he “wouldn’t want to speculate” about any possibilities for the band beyond the documentary, but mentioned that working on it had helped repair fractured relationships.

With the news about Buckingham and Nick’s relationship seemingly repaired, naturally talk of a Fleetwood Mac reunion was inevitable.

The band hasn’t performed since 2019, and Nicks has stated that after the 2022 death of Christine McVie there wouldn’t be any reunion.

Buckingham did tease that he was working on new solo music, with the possibility of a tour in 2027:

“Next year should be a pretty interesting year because I think quite a few things will reveal themselves,” Buckingham said.

This is purely speculation, but with Buckingham’s comments on his and Nicks’ current relationship, his tease of new solo music with a tour and talk of 50th anniversary plans for Rumours, could we see an onstage reunion between the exes?

With this all in mind, the pair’s only album together, Buckingham Nicks, was rereleased for the first time in over 50 years in September of 2025.

Maybe we don’t see Fleetwood Mac take the stage again, but maybe that won’t be the case for Buckingham Nicks.
