Walmart offers 'breakout bear' for Valentine's Day
Source: Sure, Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love and relationships, but if you are on the other side of the coin this year, Walmart has something that may make your day a bit easier.

Getting over an ex is hard but in China, some people are taking a very futuristic approach to heartbreak: they’re creating AI versions of their former partners.

Using apps and tools designed to mimic real people, users upload old text messages, photos, social media posts, and even memories from past relationships. The AI then learns the ex’s speech patterns, favorite phrases, and personality quirks to create a chatbot that sounds remarkably like the real thing.

The result? A “digital ex” that’s available 24/7 to chat, reminisce, or even rehash old conversations.

Supporters say it’s a helpful way to process a breakup, find emotional comfort, or get the closure they never received. After all, sometimes there are things left unsaid after a relationship ends.

Critics, however, aren’t so sure. Some psychologists worry that talking to an AI version of an ex could keep people stuck in the past, creating what they call a “grief loop” instead of helping them move forward.

Still, the trend is growing and raising a fascinating question: If technology can recreate the people we miss, should it?

One thing’s for sure, dating in the age of artificial intelligence is getting a lot more complicated.
