Texas Sized Coffee!
Dunkin’ is about to test the limits of caffeine and common sense. Starting tomorrow, Friday the 22nd, the chain is rolling out 48-ounce iced coffee buckets nationwide after testing them earlier this year at a handful of New England stores. To put that size in perspective, a large iced coffee at most places suddenly looks puny.
The buckets cost $12.99 and can be filled with iced coffee or Refreshers. Customers can adjust flavors, sweetness, and caffeine levels, meaning your drink can land anywhere between “nice afternoon pick-me-up” and “I’m suddenly reorganizing the garage at 10:30 tonight.”
If you want one, speed matters. Dunkin’ says stores will only have 25 buckets available. The company hasn’t said if more are coming or if this is a limited-time experiment.
A few ground rules come with your portable swimming pool of caffeine. Dunkin’ says the bucket is designed for one person. There is only room for one straw. It will not fit in your car’s cup holder. And once it’s empty, don’t expect a refill.
The giant coffee trend didn’t start with Dunkin’. Smaller coffee shops started selling oversized coffee containers last summer, and social media quickly turned them into a talking point. Dunkin’ is simply taking the idea and making it Texas-sized.
For coffee fans, tomorrow could be a big day. Literally.
