Ozempic Personality Is A Thing

Some people taking GLP-1 medications (like Ozempic) for weight loss or Type 2 diabetes say they notice a side effect sometimes called “Ozempic personality.”
Doctors describe it as a possible form of anhedonia, which means feeling less pleasure or interest in things you used to enjoy.
It’s not common, and it’s not yet clear if the drugs directly cause it. But some patients report:
less enjoyment of food
reduced interest in eating out or socializing
a general “blunted” emotional feeling
Experts say this may happen because GLP-1 drugs affect brain and body systems involved in hunger and reward, making food less rewarding.
Since food is tied to pleasure, comfort, and social life, changing that reward response can sometimes affect mood or enjoyment more broadly.
If symptoms feel strong or disruptive, doctors may consider adjusting the dose or stopping the medication.
Interesting!
