They were loud, dangerous, and impossible to ignore. When Skid Row hit big, it was Sebastian Bach out front, wild, unpredictable, and unforgettable. Backing him were guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabo, bassist Rachel Bolan, guitarist Scotti Hill and drummer Rob Affuso.

Their debut album made them stars.  Slave to the Grind proved they had teeth. While fans saw unity and the band was splitting at the seams. Bach’s larger-than-life personality began clashing with Sabo and Bolan, the group’s core decision-makers. Arguments over musical direction and attitude turned personal and ugly.

By 1996, it imploded. Bach was out.

What followed? A long, messy rebuild. The band cycled through singers like Johnny SolingerTony Harnell, and later Erik Grönwall. Meanwhile, Bach went solo—and famously refused to reunite despite massive offers.

Today, Sabo, Bolan, and Hill keep Skid Row alive onstage. But to many fans, it’s not that Skid Row. The chemistry, the chaos, the lightning—it left with Bach.

The name lives on. The legend? That’s still stuck in 1991.
