3 Americans found dead in Mexico City Airbnb
Source: Three American families are searching for answers after their adult children were found dead in an Airbnb while attending Mexico City’s annual Day of the Dead celebration.

A report from 404 Media reveals something both hilarious and slightly dystopian about modern travel: your Airbnb host might not just be a person anymore; they might be a bot with a breakfast recipe.

Yes, really.

Companies are now actively pitching AI chatbot services to Airbnb hosts, promising to handle guest messages automatically, everything from check-in instructions to “Where’s the Wi-Fi password?” to, apparently, “How do I make French toast?” In one case highlighted by the report, a guest got exactly that: a full recipe, courtesy of their host’s AI assistant.

Airbnb Still Wants a Human Touch

Airbnb does allow some automation—especially for quick, after-hours replies. But they draw a line:
Hosts still need to be present, accountable, and actually good at hosting.

In the now-infamous French toast situation, the host wasn’t suspended for using a bot. They were suspended because, overall, they weren’t meeting Airbnb’s standards.

Translation:
It’s not the robot’s fault—you still have to care.
