Hair loss
Source: Stock photo illustrating hair loss. New research into factors that control the life and death of hair follicle cells could help people grappling with hair-loss afflictions, as well as wound healing, according to researchers at the University of California, Riverside.

No hair, no problem!

Current hair-loss treatments mostly slow thinning rather than stopping it, leaving millions of people without a real long-term fix. A biotech startup called OrganTech in Tokyo says it may have a more exciting solution!
Scientists there claim they’ve identified the smallest combination of stem cells needed to grow functional hair follicles in the lab. By pairing two known stem cell types with a newly discovered one, researchers were able to create lab-grown follicles that can keep producing hair, essentially tiny hair-growing factories.
If the approach works in people, the goal would be treatments that actually regrow hair, not just slow its loss. With the global hair restoration market expected to exceed $15 billion in the next decade, the company has already filed international patents and is working toward clinical uses for conditions like Alopecia.

What a breakthrough for balding!
