Big Plans To Celebrate Bon Scott This Summer
On July 9, 2026, the world will celebrate what would have been Bon Scott’s 80th birthday, and the plans are anything but quiet.
The Bon Scott Estate and Perryscope Productions have mapped out a global tribute that feels appropriately loud. German studio icon Neumann will release a limited edition signature product on his birthday. The Perth Mint is issuing collector gold and silver bars bearing Bon’s name and likeness, following a sold-out 2024 coin. Legendary Australian artist Reg Mombassa has created exclusive commemorative artwork for posters and apparel, while Knucklebonz will unveil its third Bon statue, this one inspired by the ferocity of the 1978 Powerage tour.
Official Bon Scott tartan apparel collaborations are rolling out, along with new limited edition merchandise through Perryscope and Merch Jungle. His official YouTube channel will expand with rare footage and exclusive interviews from peers and admirers.
Tribute events will anchor the celebration. Bonfest returns to Kirriemuir, Scotland, May 1 to 3, 2026. New York City hosts the third annual Bon’s Birthday Bash in July. The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame will present a one-night screening of Let There Be Rock: The Movie alongside a special memorabilia display.
The reverence runs deep. Rob Halford praised Bon’s unmatched swagger. Scott Ian called his lyrics realistic and fearless. Sammy Hagar remembered him as “the coolest guy.” Lars Ulrich said those early AC/DC records are timeless.
Meanwhile, AC/DC continues its massive PWR UP tour in 2026, with more than half the set built on songs Bon helped write. The band roars into Houston this summer, proving that even at 80, Bon’s spirit still shakes the rafters.
