The Prince of Darkness may be gone, but the roar of Ozzfest might not stay silent for long.

In a surprise tease that sent metal fans into full headbang speculation, the official Ozzfest Instagram account posted a simple message: “Ozzfest Could Return – 2027?” Just a few words, but enough to light up the mosh pit of nostalgia.

And it might not just be wishful thinking. In a recent interview with Billboard, Sharon Osbourne confirmed she’s in talks with Live Nation about bringing the legendary festival back to life. After Ozzy Osbourne’s death, many assumed Ozzfest had closed its gates forever. But Sharon says the spirit of the festival still matters, and it’s something worth reviving.

“It was something Ozzy was very passionate about,” she said, “giving young talent a stage in front of a lot of people.”

Ozzfest wasn’t just another touring lineup of loud names. Sharon reminded fans that it helped shape the modern metal festival scene in America, giving emerging bands a chance to play in front of massive crowds long before streaming and social media made discovery easier.

“We really started metal festivals in this country,” she said, adding that while others copied the format, they never captured the heart of what Ozzfest was.

For Ozzy, it wasn’t only about the legends, it was about the newcomers. Sharon called it “a place for new talent,” comparing it to “summer camp for kids,” where the next generation of metal could find its voice.

If 2027 becomes reality, Ozzfest won’t just return. It’ll resurrect.
