Recently, people on Reddit shared the small, everyday things they assumed were mandatory, but aren’t. Reading this list will make you rethink your own habits:

  • Leaving a party only after saying goodbye to everyone.
  • Eating breakfast every day.
  • Owning a big house that constantly needs cleaning.
  • Making your bed every morning.
  • Drinking alcohol to “fit in.”
  • Washing rice.
  • Having credit cards.
  • Waiting for a birthday to eat cake.
  • Working yourself to exhaustion for promotions.
  • Explaining every “no.”

Seeing it all laid out is surprisingly liberating. Most of the “musts” we followed weren’t actually rules; they were habits, expectations, or invisible pressures. And realizing you can skip them? It’s like discovering your own little patch of freedom in everyday life.

Have any to add to the list?
