2026 marks 50 years since an incredible run of films hit theaters in 1976, and many of them left us lines that still live rent-free in our heads. Here’s a few with some famous or often-quoted lines that helped cement their legacy.

Taxi Driver – “You talkin’ to me?” A line so iconic it practically became a personality trait.

The Bad News Bears – “You just got taught a lesson by the Bad News Bears.” Scrappy, defiant, and perfectly on brand.

All the President’s Men – “Follow the money.” Three words that reshaped political thrillers forever.

Carrie – “They’re all gonna laugh at you!” A line that still makes people wince.

          1. Rocky – “Yo, Adrian!” Possibly the most heartfelt shout in movie history.

The Outlaw Josey Wales – “Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy.” Pure Eastwood grit.

Car Wash – “Welcome to the car wash.” Simple, catchy, and inseparable from its funk-driven vibe.

The Man Who Fell to Earth – “I came to get water.” Sparse, strange, and unforgettable.

King Kong – “It was beauty killed the beast.” A line older than 1976, but newly iconic again.

A Star Is Born – “You’re gonna be a star.” Hope wrapped in heartbreak.

Fifty years later, these movies still stand the test of time.  Check out the complete list at TheTropicalFruit.com.
