Do People Really Dress Up Their Pets For The Holidays?
Do people really dress up their pets for the holidays? PetSmart thinks so, and apparently, it’s a full-blown nationwide hobby. They released a list of the Top 15 cities where “pet parents” are most likely to make their pets participate in holiday festivities. And yes… some of these places are small enough that your dog in a Santa suit is basically the mayor.
- Midland, Texas – People here apparently believe golden retrievers look better in tinsel than humans do.
- Dickson City, Pennsylvania – Cats in elf hats patrol living rooms like tiny, judgmental supervisors.
- Lexington, Kentucky – Dogs in antlers are a legitimate traffic hazard.
- Amarillo, Texas – Ferrets in Santa costumes compete in unofficial ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
- Johnson City, Tennessee – Pugs in ugly sweaters are considered local celebrities.
- Winter Garden, Florida – Someone thought flamingos should join in too.
- Lubbock, Texas – Chihuahuas dressed as elves think they run the town.
- Pensacola, Florida – Cats stare disdainfully at humans decorating Christmas trees.
- Florence, Kentucky – Rabbits in reindeer horns cause mild chaos in craft stores.
- Athens, Georgia – Corgis in Santa hats parade through downtown like royalty.
- Portland, Oregon – Dogs in tiny bowler hats sip spilled pumpkin spice lattes.
- West Jordan, Utah – Ferrets in socks are now considered high art.
- Antioch, California – Parrots sing carols off-key… for your amusement.
- Roseville, Michigan – Squirrels in Santa hats are a thing. Yes, really.
- Cape Coral, Florida – Iguanas in glittery capes judge everyone’s decorating skills.
So yes. People really do dress up their pets. And judging by these trends, the holiday season is officially a costume contest for every creature that can sit still for more than five seconds.
