Most Men Stay Out Of The Kitchen At Thanksgiving! Shocker!😂
Are you the kind of person who LOVES hosting Thanksgiving because it means total command of the kitchen . . . or are you someone who’d rather breeze through the front door, grab a plate, and get straight to the eating? A new poll breaks down the work behind Thanksgiving, and who’s actually doing it.
First, the cooking: 10% of Americans say they’ll do all of it. Another 14% say they’ll do most of it, with a little help, and 8% will do about half. But the biggest chunk, 27%, say they’ll “help,” but someone else will really be running the show. And then there are the proud 13% who admit they won’t be lifting a single spatula.
Men and younger adults lead the “I’m-not-cooking” crowd: 18% of men say they’ll do none of the cooking, compared to just 7% of women. And people under 30 or over 65 are also more likely to stay far, far away from the stove.
You might think the rule is “you cook, I’ll clean,” but not on Thanksgiving. Most people who cook also end up doing the majority of the cleaning. Meanwhile, 77% of those who expect others to cook also expect others to do most of the cleanup. Must be nice.
And if you don’t want to cook OR clean? The poll bizarrely asked where people would rather spend Thanksgiving: home or the White House. 83% chose home.
Finally, not everyone is relaxing, 5% of Americans will work a full day on Thanksgiving, and 28% are headed back to work on Friday.
Happy Thanksgiving!
