We Need “Snooze Insurance”!
Wouldn’t it be great if we had “Snooze Insurance” as adults? Grubhub just rolled it out for college students, because apparently 72% of them have fallen asleep before their late-night pizza showed up. (Or, let’s be honest, passed out before the delivery guy even knocked.)
The deal is simple: if you’re a “Grubhub+ Student” member and you miss a delivery, you can apply for a “make-up meal” worth $15 off your next order. It’s a smart marketing move, free to join, available at over 400 campuses, and designed to keep hungry, half-conscious students coming back for more.
But imagine this idea in the real world. Adults could use “Snooze Insurance” for everything. Missed the Amazon delivery because you nodded off on the couch? Boom, free replacement. Fell asleep before your favorite show dropped at midnight? Netflix sends a recap. Missed the meeting because your 6 a.m. alarm lost the will to live? Starbucks delivers a coffee and an apology muffin.
Grubhub may be onto something; they’ve just targeted the one demographic that thinks 3 a.m. burritos are a life necessity. But maybe this is the pilot program for the rest of us. After all, if students can sleep through dinner and get a do-over, adults deserve a little grace, too. Because sometimes it’s not “sleeping through the delivery”, it’s just “self-care with benefits.”
