Are These The Most Hated Rock Songs & Albums?
Some songs and albums just won’t die, no matter how many times we hit “skip.” UltimateClassicRock.com recently rounded up the most universally hated songs and albums that, for better or worse, continue to echo through radio stations, playlists, and karaoke bars everywhere.
The Most Hated Songs:
- “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” – Aerosmith
Power ballad overload, anyone? Even Steven Tyler has admitted it’s not their toughest rock moment. - “Kokomo” – The Beach Boys
The band’s late-’80s comeback hit that made us all want to avoid Aruba, Jamaica, and everywhere else. - “Sussudio” – Phil Collins
Infectious to the point of insanity, and yes, even Phil jokes about how silly the title is. - “We Didn’t Start the Fire” – Billy Joel
A history lesson turned sing-along headache. - “Shiny Happy People” – R.E.M.
The band’s own members eventually disowned it. - “We Built This City” – Starship
A synthetic anthem that regularly tops “worst song ever” polls.
The Most Hated Albums:
- “Scream” – Chris Cornell (produced by Timbaland… enough said.)
- “Dirty Work” – The Rolling Stones – Even Mick and Keith barely speak of it.
- “Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins” – John Lennon & Yoko Ono – Avant-garde or just awkward?
- “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” (1978 soundtrack) – A disco-era disaster.
- “Two the Hard Way” – Allman and Woman (Gregg Allman & Cher) – Proof that love doesn’t always make great music.
Are there any that you would add to the list?
