Not even two years into retirement, Gene Simmons is already doing what older guys do: getting into fender benders.

On Tuesday, the 76-year-old KISS legend passed out behind the wheel of his Lincoln Navigator in Malibu, crossed a few lanes of traffic, and hit a parked car. Luckily, no one was hurt. Gene was taken to the hospital as a precaution but was released shortly after.

He later posted on social media, saying, “Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes. I’m completely fine. I had a slight fender bender. It happens. Especially to those of us who were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”

His wife, Shannon Tweed, said his doctor had recently changed his medication, which may have caused him to lose consciousness. Gene has always been open about staying away from drugs and alcohol, so this one wasn’t rock-star partying gone wrong — just bad timing.

KISS played their final show on December 2, 2023, at Madison Square Garden, marking the official end of the band’s 50-year run. Since then, Gene has stayed busy with business ventures and public appearances, but Tuesday’s scare might be a reminder that even rock stars aren’t invincible.

For now, he’s home, resting, and joking about being a terrible driver — proving that while the makeup may be off, Gene Simmons is still very much himself.
