Dear Job, It’s Not Me – It’s YOU!
Nearly half of today’s employees, 46%, have considered leaving their jobs because they’re emotionally exhausted or just plain numb. Another 3% already have. When asked to describe their relationship with work, people didn’t say “fulfilling” or “rewarding.” They said “tired,” “surviving,” “autopilot,” or simply, “I’m here to get paid.” Only 8% of workers say they’re thriving, while most are just hanging on, stuck somewhere between burnout and buffering.
Dear Job,
We need to talk. Things between us feel… off. Remember when I first joined you? I was full of energy, ambition, and caffeine. You said we’d do great things together. But lately, every day feels like “Groundhog Day” with worse lighting and more PowerPoint.
You’ve become emotionally exhausting. You keep throwing “exciting changes” at us like confetti, but we’re not celebrating. Nearly half of us emotionally checked out, pretending to nod along in meetings while Googling “symptoms of corporate fatigue.”
You’ve made me feel undervalued, disconnected, and creatively flat. I’m not alone there either. We’re all just surviving, not thriving.
You used to inspire me. Now, I look at you and think, “I’m only here to get paid.” That’s not love. That’s dependency.
So, unless something changes, I’m going to have to move on.
This time, it’s not me, it’s definitely you.
Sincerely,
Every Overworked Employee Everywhere
Hang in there. Hopefully, the job will understand that something needs to change in this “relationship.”
