What Are You Too Old For Now?
Getting older has its perks, and one of them is realizing it’s perfectly fine to outgrow things we once tolerated, or even enjoyed. When BuzzFeed asked its readers what they’re “simply getting too old for,” more than 200 people responded, and the answers were both funny and painfully relatable.
Here are some of the standouts:
- Work drama: One 46-year-old said she’s done being the “fixer” at her job. She no longer goes above and beyond without pay or recognition and isn’t afraid to be seen as the “cranky” one if it means standing up for herself.
- Parking struggles: A 45-year-old said if a place doesn’t have a parking lot, they’re not going. Simple as that.
- Noise: From blasting speakers in public to restaurants cranking music too loud, one person pleaded: “Quiet the F down, people.”
- Social lives: Bars and clubs are out. Many prefer small, cozy hangouts with comfy clothes, food experiments, movies, and deep conversations.
- Tech hassles: Several readers begged for real humans instead of endless chatbot customer service loops.
- Everyday comforts: No more cars without air conditioning, overpriced restaurant wine, or caring about underwear lines.
- Cellphones: One reader admitted they’re over being tethered to their phone. “To constantly need to take photos of every blasted thing, and to lose your ability to function if you lose your phone, I can’t even put into words how sad that is.”
The overall theme? Boundaries. Getting older means knowing what’s worth your time, and what isn’t. And maybe that’s what makes life feel a little freer.
