Two of Birmingham’s most legendary heavy metal forces have come together for a powerful cause. Judas Priest has released their official cover of Black Sabbath’s classic “War Pigs”, featuring the unmistakable vocals of the late Ozzy Osbourne. The single is being sold to raise funds for Parkinson’s disease charities, a condition that touched both bands in deeply personal ways.

Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019, and his battle with the illness became a central theme of his forthcoming biography, Last Rites. Sadly, the singer passed away this July, just weeks after Sabbath’s emotional final hometown performance. His presence on “War Pigs” makes the release a poignant tribute to his legacy.

For Judas Priest, the fight against Parkinson’s is equally personal. Guitarist Glenn Tipton revealed his own diagnosis in 2008, going public with the news a decade later. Tipton contributed guitar work to the track, underscoring the project’s heartfelt meaning.

According to frontman Rob Halford, the collaboration came together after Sharon Osbourne reached out, moved by Priest’s version of the Sabbath anthem. “She said, ‘I love your version of ‘War Pigs.’ Is there a way we can get Ozzy?’” Halford recalled. “It’s the first ever time in my entire life that I’ve been able to do a duet with Ozzy… I’m eternally grateful.”

Halford described the finished track as “colossal,” capturing the raw power of both bands while serving a greater purpose: raising awareness and funds in the ongoing fight against Parkinson’s disease.
