We have all had the same fantasy: blasting around the 610 Loop like Vin Diesel in Fast & Furious or Burt Reynolds in “Smokey and the Bandit,” leaving brake lights and traffic jams in the dust. Now, thanks to Velocity – Sim Racing Lounge in Sawyer Yards, that dream is shifting into overdrive, without the risk of tickets, wrecks, or winding up on the evening news.

Velocity has unveiled the “610 Challenge,” a painstakingly crafted digital replica of Houston’s 40-mile inner loop, built with California-based Authentic Simulation. The course is so real that if you drive the speed limit in one of Velocity’s 16 motion simulators, it’ll take you just as long as it would on the actual highway. But honestly, who’s here to play it safe? Channel your inner Sammy Hagar and blast into “I Can’t Drive 55” mode. Push it to 200 mph and you can circle the loop in just nine minutes flat, cue the “Born to Be Wild guitar riff.

The simulators have full-motion rigs with 180-degree panoramic displays, six-axis movement, and booming sound systems that practically beg you to queue up “Radar Love, “Highway Star, or Houston’s Eagle! Founder Viet Tran used lidar scans and hours of real driving to capture every detail, signs, bridges, curbs, and Houston landmarks like NRG Stadium and the Astrodome, down to the grain of concrete.

It’s the ultimate jam session for speed freaks and car lovers alike: part video game, part thrill ride, and all adrenaline, starting at $35 for a half-hour thrill ride.

Buckle up, Houston, your highway fantasy just got real!
