Big News for 80’s Hair Band Fans

Rock music from the 1980s often gets dismissed, remembered more for its teased hair and dramatic eyeliner than for its lasting impact. But the curators at the Grammy Museum Mississippi are pushing back, channeling Twisted Sister’s anthem, “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”
Their new exhibit, ’80s Rock: The Wildest Decade in Music, highlights what they call “one of the most underappreciated eras in rock history.” The showcase dives into the rise of hair metal and glam metal, examining how these genres captured the spotlight and why their fan base remains fiercely devoted decades later.
The exhibit opens to the public on Friday, Sept. 26, and will remain on display through 2026. Visitors can explore artifacts and memorabilia from some of the ’80s biggest rock acts, including Mötley Crüe, Poison, Skid Row, Warrant, Ratt, Guns N’ Roses, Cinderella, Def Leppard, Lita Ford, and Vixen.
Fans will also get the chance to snap a photo in front of a striking backdrop recreating the exterior of the legendary Sunset Strip venue, Whisky a Go Go. The grammy Museum in Cleveland, MS is only an 8-hour drive away!
