The Latest Dating Term
A new dating trend is making the rounds, and experts say it should be banished back to Far Far Away.
It’s called “Shrekking” and despite borrowing its name from the lovable green ogre, there’s nothing fairytale-worthy about it.
The idea? Dating someone you’re not physically attracted to under the assumption they’ll treat you better. After all, Princess Fiona took a chance on Shrek, and her story ended happily ever after.
But in the real world, things don’t always play out like a DreamWorks movie. When you get “Shrekked,” the person you lowered your standards for still ends up breaking your heart.
As dating coach and Breakup Bootcamp author Amy Chan puts it: “In this plotline, you’re dating an ogre without the princess treatment.”
I’d rather date a “golden retriever” myself!
