Helen Mirren has voiced her belief that James Bond should remain a male character, saying, “James Bond has to be James Bond,” and that a female 007 simply wouldn’t work. Her former co-star Pierce Brosnan echoed the sentiment, adding that he’s eager to see who will step into the iconic role next.

The debate comes as Amazon MGM, which reportedly invested $1 billion to acquire the Bond franchise, begins shaping its future. Speculation over the next 007 continues to swirl, with names like Henry Cavill, Lucien Laviscount, Idris Elba, Harris Dickinson, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson frequently mentioned reinforcing the long-standing tradition of Bond being played by a man. As it should be!
