Alright, word nerds, brace yourselves. The Cambridge Dictionary just added over 6,000 new words, and some of them are absolutely bonkers. Yep, real words. I’m not creative enough to make up some of these!

Let’s break it down:

Skibidi: Born from a surreal YouTube series, this term can mean “cool,” “bad,” or simply anything. (Example: “That outfit is skibidi!”)

Delulu: A playful shorthand for “delusional,” it’s the perfect word for that friend who thinks they’ll win the lottery tomorrow.

Tradwife: Short for “traditional wife,” describing women celebrating homemaking roles on TikTok. Think frilly kitchen aprons and social media stir-fry. Basically, “Little House on the Prairie” style.

Mouse jiggler: Whatever your first thought was, it’s wrong. It is actually software that keeps your work screen “active” so you don’t get caught slacking when you are supposed to be working.

Broligarchy: A mash-up of “bro” and “oligarchy,” referring to the secret society of tech bros with world domination plans.

Lexical manager Colin McIntosh insists these words have “staying power,” even if your brain didn’t ask for them.

It’s comforting to know that language can still make us laugh, even if it’s ridiculous.

Now we know what our parents felt like when we tried to explain something was “totally tubular” or that “bad” was good.
