Yes! It’s Official – Traffic Is As Bad As You Think It Is!
Houston’s drivers have a new distinction that nobody wants. A recent study confirms what we have always known. Houston has some of the worst traffic in the country. We rank No. 7 nationwide.
On average, Houstonians spend nearly 6 hours a week in traffic. That’s enough time to binge Smokey and the Bandit twice and still have a few minutes left to scream into the steering wheel. It becomes even more frustrating when Houston’s Eagle is cranking AC/DC or Ozzy while you’re in a traffic jam! You want to rock, but you’re blocked by a sea of cars!
We are spending nearly 30 minutes on average for our commute. That lands Houston at the 9th longest in the nation in terms of trip time.
And if you think, “At least I’m safe in all this,” not so fast, Houston racks up over 10 fatal crashes per 100,000 people. So yeah, stay alert. Put the phone down. Especially if you’re reading this in traffic (we see you, Chad).
So next time you’re stuck on the West Loop listening to Van Halen and wondering what life choices led you here, just know: it’s not you, it’s just Houston traffic.
Relax, turn the AC down, and Houston’s Eagle up. Hopefully, it will drown out all your intrusive thoughts while you’re slowly getting around town.
