Alice Cooper says golf saved his life, explaining, “I had to find an addiction that wasn’t going to kill me—because all my other ones were.”

He first picked up the game because of its convenience; living in Phoenix, Arizona, he had access to over 130 golf courses. After just a couple of solid shots, Cooper was hooked—and it quickly became a daily habit.

These days, he plays every morning and has even teed off with fellow rock legends like Meat Loaf and Eddie Van Halen. While some of them turned out to be surprisingly good, Cooper admits others “shouldn’t be anywhere near a golf course.”
