Hot Tea’s Spilling, and Some Dudes Are Salty

Imagine a place where women can spill about bad dates, run background checks on matches, and get dating advice on the spot, all while staying totally safe. That’s what Tea Dating Advice is all about. Yep, it was actually created by a guy in 2023 to help women deal with the ups and downs of dating men. But as it climbed the App Store charts, it also drew targeted attacks by men on sites like 4chan, who called for a hack.
Last week, the Tea app said it got hacked, and over 72,000 images were leaked, including around 13,000 verification selfies and government IDs that users had to upload to sign up. They’re still looking into what happened and who was behind it, but it looks like the breach only affected people who joined before February 2024.
They need to beef up app security and let us drink the tea in peace!
