Carlos Santana Postpones Show in Sugar Land

Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana collapsed during a soundcheck ahead of his band’s Tuesday night show in San Antonio, which the band postponed. Due to his condition, Wednesday’s show a Smart Financial Centre in Sugar Land is also postponed.
The news comes from Santana’s team, as Santana manager Michael Vrionis released a statement on behalf of the guitarist:
“[Santana] experienced dehydration yesterday and was taken to the hospital to get checked out. They are happy to report that [Santana] is doing well and will be back on his U.S. Tour this Friday in Thackerville, OK. We appreciate everyone’s well wishes and concern. Carlos is looking forward to seeing you all very soon.”
Smart Financial Centre is advising those that have tickets to tonight’s postponed show to hold on to them, as the show will be rescheduled at a later date.
The Santana band leader was taken to a hospital by the San Antonio Fire Department on Tuesday afternoon, where he was reportedly in “non life-threatening condition,” according to TMZ.

Due to the incident, Santana’s show in San Antonio at Majestic Theatre was postponed, as the 77-year-old was experiencing symptoms of dehydration.
“It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postpone,” Vrionis said in a statement.” Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and the health of Mr. Santana, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to coming back to San Antonio soon as well as continuing his U.S. tour. Thank you all very much for your understanding. The show will be rescheduled soon.”
This isn’t the first time the guitarist has postponed shows due to heat exhaustion, as Santana cut a 2022 Detroit show short after experiencing heat exhaustion and hydration during his performance.
In January, Santana postponed his band’s Las Vegas residency due to a fall at home.
