Houston Knocks Off Purdue in Indy, Advances to Elite 8
INDIANAPOLIS—The season ended for the Purdue Boilermakers in a game that didn’t finish until early Saturday morning because of a late Friday night start.
The Houston Cougars beat Purdue in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament 62-60 at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. The loss ends Purdue’s season at 24-12.
Houston outrebounded Purdue 38-29 which helped offset that they only shot 38% from the field. They were led in scoring by Milos Uzan who had 22 points. Uzan made the game-winning layup with less than a second to play.
Fort Wayne native Fletcher Loyer led Purdue with 16 points.
Houston is 33-4. They face 30-7 Tennessee in the Elite 8 on Sunday at 2:20 pm.
