HOUSTON — Rodeo Houston announced refund options Monday for concertgoers who saw Journey’s show at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo end prematurely on March 14. The classic rock band’s set ended due to a reported electrical fire underneath the stage.

Journey was in the midst of its show Friday night, performing their ageless mega hit, Don’t Stop Believin’, when suddenly the band’s sound and visual feed from the rotating stage cut out. The crowd, without missing a beat, carried on through the rest of the song, despite Journey never resuming their set.

According to a Rodeo Houston statement, an electrical issue underneath the stage forced the cancelation of the rest of Journey’s show.

“Due to an unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area, we regretfully announce the cancellation of tonight’s Journey concert, Rodeo Houston said in a statement. “We sincerely apologize to all fans for this disappointment. Our team is working diligently to assess the situation, and we will provide updates regarding rescheduling options and refunds as soon as possible.”

Despite the issue during Journey’s show, country music star Warren Zeiders‘ concert went on as expected without issue or delay.

“Howdy! We are excited to host RODEOHOUSTON and welcome Warren Zeiders today as scheduled,” Rodeo Houston said in a statement. “The stage will be operating as normal, and we will host all activities in the stadium and on the grounds as originally planned. For those who attended the Journey concert, we’ll follow up with more information soon. Thanks, and see y’all at the Show!”

Refund Options

Rodeo Houston announced two refund options for fans that attend the show that night: They can claim their refund for the canceled show or donate the value of their ticket. The donation would go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for the benefit of Texas youth.

“We regretfully apologize for the unforeseen mid-show cancellation of the Journey concert on Friday, March 14,” Rodeo Houston said in a statement. “For those that wish to contribute to our mission, you may choose to donate the value of your ticket to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo as we support Texas youth and education.”

Rodeo Houston will release more details in the coming days on how those that attended the show Friday night can receive their refunds or make their donations, according to ABC 13.
