Ratt‘s former frontman Stephen Pearcy and former guitarist Warren DeMartini revealed their band’s lineup for M3 Rock Festival, headlining the third and final night of the event. This marks the first time since 2018 that the pair have performed together.

While Pearcy’s and DeMartini’s collaboration smells like a Ratt – reunion at least – it’s not. The rest of the band’s lineup will feature former Ratt (2008-2014, 2016-2018) and Quiet Riot guitarist Carlos Cavazo, former Ratt (1981-1982) guitarist Matt Thorr and former Slaughter drummer Blas Elias. Pearcy brought Thorr and Elias over from his solo band.

Despite four of the group’s members being from Ratt, Pearcy and DeMartini aren’t billing their band as “Ratt,” claiming they’d want to celebrate the “legacy” of Ratt’s music, rather than Ratt itself.

“It’s not about Ratt,” Pearcy said. “It’s about the legacy of our music, and who better to deliver it? Because we don’t have all the proper original elements, which would include Robbin [Crosby]. So we just decided, no, this is great, this is perfect. We don’t want to hit a brick wall. We want this nice and smooth.”

Crosby was the guitarist for Ratt from 1981 to 1991, dying in 2002. Other “classic-era” members, drummer Bobby Blotzer and bassist Juan Croucier, were not mentioned in any news, so their involvement in a future Ratt reunion or appearance seems unlikely, at least now.

Pearcy and DeMartini claim to have received other offers beyond their show at M3, so a more-extensive reunion between the former bandmates could happen, especially given an interest in new material.

“Obviously new music is what I’m thinking, always,” Pearcy said. “If [DeMartini is] writing, I’m in there, but M3 is definitely the perfect place to kick it off.”
