HOUSTON — Two legendary rock bands will be hitting the road together this summer, as 38 Special and Kansas will co-headline a summer 2025 tour. The tour will feature appearances by Jefferson Starship and the Outlaws.
The tour will make a stop in the Houston area, as the bands are set to play at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion Presented by Huntsman in The Woodlands on July 19, featuring special guest Dave Mason. the tour opens June 6, in Richmond, VA, and concludes on July 26, in Rogers, AR.

About 38 Special
Founded in 1974, 38 Special will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2025. The band features founding member and guitarist Don Barnes, longtime keyboardist Bobby Capps, drummer Gary “Madman: Moffatt, bassist Barry Dunaway and guitarist Jerry Riggs. The band has existed without hiatus since its founding, despite no original members remaining with the band through all 50 years. Former frontman Donnie Van Zant was with the band since its inception, but retired in 2013 due to health issues.
The band is known for several hits, such as Caught Up In You, If I’d Been the One, Second Chance and Hold On Loosely across 12 studio albums. Their last release was 2004’s Drivetrain.
About Kansas
Founded in 1973, Kansas celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2024 with a tour that wrapped up in December. Kansas’s current lineup features two original members; drummer Phil Ehart and guitarist Rich Williams. The band also features frontman Ronnie Platt, guitarist Zak Rizvi, keyboardist Tom Brislin, guitarist Joe Deninzon and bassist Dan McGowan. Drummer Jason Gianni will likely fill in for Ehart during the tour, as the latter is still recovering from a heart attack he suffered back in February of 2024.
Kansas is known for hit songs like Dust in the Wind, Play the Game Tonight, All I Wanted and the legendary Carry On Wayward Son, across 16 studio albums.
