HOUSTON — The Houston Astros landed former Arizona Diamondbacks star and three-time Golden Glove Award winner Christian Walker on Friday. The first baseman inked a three-year contract worth $60 million.
With the move, this likely spells the end of former All-Star and resident Golden Glove Award winner Alex Bregman‘s time in Space City. The third baseman is a free agent this offseason, and with Houston acquiring All-Star third baseman Isaac Paredes last week from the Chicago Cubs, the writing is all but on the wall.
In 2024 Walker played 130 games for Arizona last season, posting a slash line of .251/.355/.468 with 26 home runs, along with his third consecutive Golden Glove Award.
This move follows several the Astros have pulled off this offseason so far:
12/4: Signed pitcher Isaac Palacio to a minor league contract.
12/9: Signed catcher Joe Hudson to a minor league contract.
12/13: Traded outfielder Kyle Tucker to Cubs for Paredes, pitcher Hayden Wesneski and third baseman Cam Smith.
12/16: Signed pitcher Juan Martinez to a minor league contract.
12/16: Signed pitcher Robier Hernandez to a minor league contract.
12/16: Signed pitcher Jordan Santana to a minor league contract.
12/20: Signed Walker to a three-year, $60 million deal.
