HOUSTON — Houston remains under heat advisory after a weekend that saw temperatures in the triple digits throughout. With the scorchingly- hot temperatures, it’s important to know where you can catch a break from the heat in Houston.

With the heat advisory extended to Monday at 10 p.m.,with a heat index as high as 113ºF possible. With temperatures expected to rise back over 100ºF on Tuesday, the city has designated many areas to be used as cooling centers, including the public libraries in the city, except for the Central Library downtown, according to ABC 13. These were the cooling centers available as of Sunday, Aug. 18.

The best way to protect yourself from the heat is limiting time spent outdoors. Avoid strenuous activities and exercise, especially during peak heat hours, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Make sure you’re staying hydrated, drinking plenty of fluids, especially if you’re in and around water.
