INDIANAPOLIS — Two people have been detained, and three children are safe following a standoff at a Texas hotel. Willie and Jessika Terrell surrendered to police, and their children reported missing from Indianapolis are now in custody, according to the Department of Public Safety.

“The subjects had been barricaded since approximately 3 PM, and they surrendered peacefully after negotiations,” said Orlando De Luna Jr., a public information officer with DPS in San Antonio.

Indianapolis Police reported that the Frio County Sheriff’s Office received an FBI tip about an Indiana Silver Alert. They attempted to stop a white van associated with the alert in Pearsall, TX, but the driver refused to comply, leading to a barricade situation at the Rio Frio Motel.

Frankie, Queen, and King Terrell were taken from their grandfather during a scheduled visit for lunch with their biological parents, according to court documents. The grandfather briefly left, only to find the parents and children gone upon his return.

Willie Terrell and Jessika Terrell were arrested in Pearsall, TX, on charges of Interfering with Custody (Level 6 Felony), and they are awaiting extradition.

“Everyone seems to be fine; of course, they’re going to be evaluated by medical personnel,” added De Luna Jr.

Indianapolis Police indicated that the father’s phone was tracked to a location less than 200 miles from where the children were found.
