BOSTON – Multiple people were injured Saturday morning during a shooting near the Caribbean Festival in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.

Update 11:01 p.m. EDT Aug. 26: According to the Boston Police Department, eight people were injured and four were arrested after the shooting in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston on Saturday,

Police said that six adult males and two adult females were shot, WFXT-TV reported.

Gerald Vick and Dwayne Francis, both 30 and from Dorchester, were arrested at the scene shortly after the shooting, according to the television station.

Sebastian Fernandez, 21, was shot in the leg during the exchange and was transported to an area hospital for treatment, WFXT reported. He was later arrested, police said.

Fernandez was arrested for the shooting and is currently under guard in a local hospital. No firearm was found.

A 17-year-old male was found with a Glock switch and was arrested, according to the television station.

During a news conference, Police Commissioner Michael Cox said the shooting was not related to the Caribbean Carnival Festival taking place nearby, adding that the shooting occurred on the outskirts of the scheduled parade route.

Original report: The Boston Police Department confirmed to WFXT that seven people were shot during the festival just before 8 a.m. It is believed that the injured are non-life-threatening.

Police were called about shots fired at the festival near Blue Hill and Talbot avenues, the news outlet reported.

Police Commissioner Michael Cox said in a news conference, according to WFXT, that the shooting was not related to the Caribbean Festival and all events will continue through the day.

A Boston Police Department spokesperson told CNN that the scene is “active” and the investigation is ongoing. Multiple victims were taken to the hospital.

Police say some arrests have been made and investigators have recovered some weapons, according to WFXT.

The Caribbean Festival is still going on, WFXT reported. It is an annual event that had two separate parades in the area, a local traffic advisory said, according to CNN.

What led up to the shooting and information about any arrests have not yet been released.
