DELTONA, Fla. – A couple in Deltona, Florida allegedly sexually abused a 2-year-old child who was in their care, officials say.
Volusia Sheriff’s Office in a news release said that Jason Zeak, 35, and Andrea Shearin, 31, have each been charged with a count of lewd or lascivious molestation, a count of lewd or lascivious exhibition, a count of child abuse.
According to WFTV, VSO said that Zeak and Shearin allegedly engaged in a sex act with the 2-year-old in their care sometime in October.
In a police report obtained by WFTV, the incident was discovered after Zeak’s spouse reportedly learned about his extramarital affair with Shearin along with hundreds of text messages that allegedly included evidence of the abuse.
The messages were reviewed by detectives and they also found alleged plans for future abuse, according to VSO.
VSO said that they have not released Zeak’s relationship with the victim in order to protect the child.
Zeak and Shearin were both arrested on Wednesday evening. According to VSO, Zeak is in custody on a $152,500 bond. Shearin posted a $152,500 bond and was released on Thursday.
