According to a news release by the Maryland State Police, Everoy J. Morrison, 44, of Roselle, was arrested in Baltimore County while driving a stolen vehicle that had been reported stolen. He was arrested on charges related to the stolen vehicle, the release stated.

Police told WNBC-TV that Morrison’s half-brother, Gary Morrison, is the husband and father of the victims.

Keisha Morrison, 44, and her daughter, Kelsey Morrison, were found dead at their Roselle residence on Wednesday, according to the television station.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed their deaths Friday afternoon and said autopsies conducted Thursday determined that their manner of death was homicide, reported.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office released limited details about the deaths, News12 NewJersey reported.

Atasha Scott, Gary Morrison’s sister, told WNBC that her brother went to his home after his daughter did not arrive at school and his wife failed to show up at work.

He found the two victims wrapped in sheets in an upstairs bedroom, according to the television station.

Everoy Morrison had been living in the basement of his brother’s home for about two years, but agreed to move out due to issues with his sister-in-law and niece, Scott told WABC-TV.

Scott told the television station that two older siblings of Kelsey Morrison called their father after they saw blood on the walls of her bedroom.

Police said Gary Morrison discovered what was allegedly the murder weapon, a bloody ax found between two mattresses in the child’s bedroom, according to WNBC.

Kelsey Morrison would have turned 10 on Sunday, WABC reported.

Roselle Mayor Donald Shaw expressed his “deepest condolences” in a Facebook post.

“The family and this community have lost two precious souls,” Shaw added. “You can rest (assured); we will get through this together. And to the family, the Borough of Roselle stands with you and will be here for the long haul.”

Everoy Morrison is being held in Maryland pending extradition to New Jersey, reported.
