According to an incident report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Zion Zaire-Vincent Waller, 22, of Leesburg, was charged with three counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, shooting or throwing deadly missiles into a vehicle, unlicensed firearm and reckless driving.

Waller was initially pulled over by a state trooper in a northbound lane north of the Yeehaw Junction exit on Florida’s Turnpike shortly before 6:30 p.m. EDT, WFTV reported. According to the incident report, the white four-door sedan Waller was driving was exceeding speeds of 100 mph and he was “driving recklessly and improperly changing lanes” around a white pickup truck.

As the trooper was speaking to Waller and a passenger, a pickup truck pulled up and said the driver had allegedly shot at his vehicle, pointing to a bullet hole in the driver’s door, the Daily Commercial of Leesburg reported.

After searching the vehicle, troopers found a loaded rifle and a loaded Glock handgun on the passenger side floorboard, according to the incident report. Waller did not hold a concealed weapon permit, troopers said.

According to the incident report, Waller allegedly told the trooper that the driver of the pickup truck threatened him with a weapon. No weapon was found in the truck, troopers said.

The FHP said that Waller’s passenger confirmed that he had shot at the other vehicle and had intended to shoot the tires of the pickup truck.

The agency did not release the names of the three people in the pickup truck.

Waller was arrested and booked into the Osceola County Jail, according to online booking records.
