Former day care employee arrested for biting toddler in Mississippi
JONES COUNTY, Miss. – A former day care employee was arrested for allegedly biting a toddler in care at a day care center in Laurel, Mississippi, in December.
The Jones County Sheriff’s Department said that they arrested Haley Rozek, 26, on Monday and she has reportedly been charged with felony child abuse, according to WDAM.
The toddler’s mother reportedly told Deputy Priscilla Pitts on Dec. 7 that she had taken her son to the Kids Company a few days prior on Dec. 5. When he came home, she noticed some marks on his arm. Pitts reportedly told the mother to take some photos and videos of her son’s arm and send them to her, according to WDAM.
According to WDAM, the mother reportedly determined that the marks were from an adult bite, on Dec. 6.
People magazine reported that the JCSD spoke with employees at the day care center who said that Rozek had allegedly admitted to biting the child.
According to WDAM, Rozek allegedly told the day care director she held the toddler, tried to calm him down, and blew on his arm. When he tried to pull away, she allegedly bit him.
Rozek reportedly filed for unemployment after the day care center fired her and claimed she was “fired because she accidentally bit a child,” The Laurel Leader Call reported, according to People.
