In a video posted to his TikTok account on Thursday, Schnapp, 18, wrote, “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘We know.’”

Schnapp filmed a video of himself lip-syncing a viral TikTok video to the words, “You know what it never was? That serious. It was never that serious. Quite frankly, it will never be that serious.”

In July, after the final two episodes of “Stranger Things’” fourth season, Schnappe told Variety that his character was gay and in love with his best friend Mike, played by Finn Wolfhard.

Earlier in the series’ history, Schnapp declined to reveal his character’s sexuality, according to Rolling Stone.

“I find that people do reach to put a label on him and just want to know, so badly, Schnapp told Variety, “He’s just confused and growing up. And that’s what it is to be a kid.”

“Stranger Things” will end with its fifth season, which will consist of eight episodes, CNN reported. There has been no confirmation about when production will begin on the season, according to Variety.
