Alabama grandma charged after 1-year-old dies from fentanyl exposure
MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – An Alabama woman is facing charges in connection with the death of her 1-year-old grandchild earlier this year after the toddler had fentanyl in his system, authorities said.
Jamie Daniell Parker, of Madison County, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and chemical endangerment of a child, WAFF reported.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call about an unresponsive child on Saturday, WHNT reported.
Deputies performed CPR until emergency crews could transport the child to an area hospital, the television station reported. The child was put on life support and died Monday, WHNT reported.
After searching the apartment where the child was found, deputies found fentanyl, WAFF reported.
Parker was booked into the Madison County Jail, and bail was set at $20,000, according to WHNT.
