COLUMBIA, S.C. – A 20-year-old woman was killed and four people were wounded during a shooting at a South Carolina apartment complex, authorities said Sunday.

The shooting occurred at the Greene Crossing Apartments in Columbia, which is marketed as a complex primarily for students, The State reported.

University of South Carolina police said none of the victims are affiliated with the university, the newspaper reported.

According to a news release from the Columbia Police Department, officers responded to a call of a shooting at about 2 a.m., WACH-TV reported. Police discovered five victims in an apartment building: the 20-year-old woman, a 22-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys, WLTX-TV reported.

The victims were taken to an area hospital, where the 20-year-old woman died, according to the police department’s news release. The Richland County Coroner’s Office is expected to release her name after notifying her next of kin, The State reported.

Two of the victims were treated and released, the news release stated. It was unclear which victims were discharged, according to The State.

According to police, the victims were at a party inside the apartment when an argument began and people began shooting, the police department said in its news release. It was unclear how many people were firing guns and what led to the argument and shooting, according to The State.
