What components do you think make for a great romantic film?

Attractive co-stars? A ‘fairy-tale element’? A happy ending?

Staff writers for, an online media source devoted to 80s and 90s nostalgia, think one classic movie — with all the aforementioned ‘requirements’ — stands out as the greatest romantic film of all-time: 1987′s “Dirty Dancing.”

Written by Eleanor Bergstein and directed by Emile Ardolino, the movie stars the late, great Patrick Swayze alongside the stunning Jennifer Grey.

“So please get yourselves comfortable (preferably not in a corner) and prepare to have the time of your life, as we present eight reasons why ‘Dirty Dancing’ simply has to be crowned the greatest romantic film of all time,” Matt P. with writes.

His reasons include the fact that “Dirty Dancy” is based on a true story, “it contains some of the greatest romantic one-liners of all time” and it has transcended multiple generations of romantic movie lovers.
