Bugsy was taken by gunpoint from his owner in March and while police searched for the young pup, they uncovered an underground dog-trafficking organization, the Orange County Sheriff’s office said, according to WFTV.

Sheriff John Mini called it an underground puppy “chop shop” where those involved allegedly cut the microchips from the skin of the pets.

“These pets were kept in extremely deplorable conditions,” Mina said, according to WFTV.

The sheriff said the dogs were then sold the dogs for cash or used for breeding operations.
