Armie Hammer, who is known for his roles in movies like “The Lone Ranger” and “The Social Network,” is under investigation for alleged sexual assault, the Los Angeles Police said Thursday.
The woman, who only identified herself by the first name “Effie,” said that Hammer raped her for four hours and hit her head against a wall among other violent acts, The Associated Press reported.
The alleged assault occurred on April 24, 2017.
“Effie” appeared on camera during a video news conference Thursday.
“During those four hours I tried to get say but he wouldn’t let me,” she said, according to the AP. “I thought that he was going to kill me. He then left with no concern for my well-being.”
“Effie” is being represented by Gloria Allred who said that she has turned over evidence to the LAPD, but did not say when. The police department started investigating Hammer for a sexual assault that was reported on Feb. 3. Allred and her client did not say if the cases were the same, the AP reported.
“Effie” said she was 20 when she and the actor met on Facebook. They started a relationship in 2016 but stopped last year. “Effie,” said she “fell in love with him instantly,” CNN reported.
Hammer’s attorney denied the allegations, calling them “outrageous,” CNN reported.
He claims that “Effie” sent Hammer graphic text messages and that his client “responded making it clear that he did not want to maintain that type of relationship with her,” CNN reported.
The attorney said in a statement that any interaction with “Effie” and any other partners “have been completely consensual, discussed and agreed upon in advance, and mutually participatory,” the AP reported.
Hammer has been the focus of sexual violence allegations over the past few months. He left the comedy “Shotgun Wedding” that was about to start production after allegations came to light and he left Paramount+ series “The Offer” based on the making of “The Godfather.”
His agency, WME, also dropped the actor, the AP reported.
Last year, Hammer also announced he and his wife were separating after 10 years of marriage, CNN reported.
