The Jacksonville Police Department said officers were trying to stop a man in a stolen vehicle when the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

The man ran into the Chick-fil-A parking lot with the officers in pursuit, KTVT reported. According to surveillance video from the restaurant, the customer in the drive-thru opened the door of his truck a second before the man ran by.

The man crashed into the door and appeared to lose his balance, allowing an officer to subdue him. The customer, who was not identified, exited his vehicle to offer assistance.

“The suspect was quickly apprehended after the ‘HANGRY’ (but helpful) citizen reminded the suspect as to why you should never run from the police,” the department wrote on its Facebook page.

Police did not say what charges the fleeing man faces, KTVT reported.
